The IBM Model M is a less expensive variant of the Model F keyboard. The design work was done at IBM in 1983-1984.

The part about the IBM Model M that makes it so special is the buckling spring switch. It makes a nice clicky sound when pressed and that gives the keyboard a godly feel.
